This past summer, Lisa Allen relocated from West Virginia to Warren, not realizing she’d have to add finding a chiropractor and physical therapist to her list of things to do. It wasn’t long before she discovered Ohio Sports & Spine Institute and she’s glad she did.
Shortly after her move, Lisa experienced debilitating pain in her sciatic nerve, radiating through her back and hamstring. The discomfort prevented her from sleeping comfortably, exercising and doing everyday activities.
She visited another physical therapy facility in the area and after several weeks of little to no results, she decided to look elsewhere.
“My son who lives in North Carolina did some research and found Ohio Sports & Spine,” said Lisa, 51. “And I’m so glad he did.”
In September, Lisa began chiropractic treatment at Ohio Sports & Spine’s Howland facility with Dr. Andrew Hospodar, coupled with physical therapy led by Edward Palestro. That was the beginning to the end of her pain, she said.
After just nine appointments, she felt like a new person with no pain. She also felt confident and educated on which exercises to continue to do to prevent the pain from returning.
“Every day I wake up and I’m just so thankful that I’m back to feeling normal,” said Lisa. “I’m more flexible now and I do the exercises on a daily basis.”
She also received care from physical therapy assistants Jen Kalinsky and Megan Reynolds.
Lisa is back to doing Zumba three times a week and spending time with her husband.
“I really liked the whole team that I got to work with there,” she said. “I’m so grateful for their help.”
